Shibuya Photoshoot, Tokyo
Iconic energy at the crossing, unexpected character just beyond it.
Shibuya Crossing lives up to the hype. What you see in photos is exactly what you get, much like Shinjuku. But the crossing is just the start. Just beyond it, side streets open into more varied, more interesting compositions. That's what surprises most clients: not more skyscrapers, but a mix of young, modern energy with traces of traditional Japan running through it, a blend nobody expects from the Shibuya they've already seen in photos.
Shibuya photoshoot spots
Six spots, a few minutes apart on foot, each with a different mood.
What a PMT Shibuya session looks like
- Most sessions start in Shibuya's less busy corners to warm up, then build toward the crossing for a high energy finish.
- At the crossing, everyone else around you becomes part of the scene. Our photographers know how to use the crowd instead of fighting it.
- Despite the crowds, Shibuya is genuinely photo friendly, even for shier clients. With so much happening around you, no one is paying attention. It's hidden in plain sight.
- How many spots we cover depends on your session length. Even longer sessions don't try to hit all of them, and shorter sessions naturally cover fewer.

Questions, answered
Can you actually take photos at the Shibuya crossing?
Yes. It's public space, and personal photography needs no permit.
What time of day is best for a Shibuya photoshoot?
Dusk and blue hour work best for a Shibuya session. That's when the sky still holds some color, and it mixes beautifully with the neon signs starting to light up around the crossing.
Is Shibuya good for couples photos?
Yes. The crossing brings energy, and Miyashita Yokocho or Center-Gai offer something with more character in the same session.
How do you handle the crowds at the crossing?
We treat the crowd as part of the scene rather than something to avoid. Our photographers know how to time shots and use the movement around you to their advantage.
Can I combine Shibuya with another Tokyo location in one session?
Yes. Ask us about pairing options when you book.
Is Shibuya good for family photos?
Yes, Shibuya works well for families. The one thing to keep in mind: babies and toddlers should be carried on your lap at all times given how busy the area gets.
Can we shoot at Shibuya Sky too?
Shibuya Sky is possible, but it requires its own separate session with an additional fee of ¥15,000. It can be combined with another spot if you book a 2 hour session.
Is Shibuya good for proposals?
It's possible, but it comes with real risk: photobombing, tricky timing, and the chance you might need a do-over. This spot works best for couples who genuinely enjoy attention and high energy for a moment like this. It also doesn't leave much room for a long speech.
